Week of November 15

We've got a full 5 day week of learning ahead of us!  This week we will be studying the letter N.  Our sight words for the week are "on" and "to".  We will continue to review "said" as well.  We are officially done with ALL of our color words!  Hooray!

In Math we are comparing and ordering numbers 0-10.

I had sent home a letter on Thursday of last week asking parents to send in items for our upcoming Thanksgiving Feast.  Please do your best to send in your child's large brown paper bag and $2 for turkey on Monday or Tuesday of this week.  The checked item at the bottom of the page is due in on Monday, November 22.  If you have any questions regarding the feast please let me know!
*Also- please note that Room 2 children need 8 green days (out of 14) to attend the Feast.  If your child IS in danger of losing the feast I will contact you.  If you don't hear from me- you can be sure your child is in the clear!

Coming up after this week we have a 3 day school week, a 4 day school week, two 5 day school weeks and then Winter Vacation!!!  It will be here before you know it!
The week after Thanksgiving be watching for information coming home regarding our Polar Express Party that will take place the last week before Winter Vacation!  It's one of the best celebrations we have in Kindergarten!

Week of November 1 AND November 8

I apologize for being behind YET again!  Last week we studied the letter Nn and the color word pink.  We worked on the sight word "can" and practiced numbers 8 and 9.

This week we will be working on the letter Gg.  I refer to lowercase "g" as a "basement" letter because it is permitted to go below the red base line in writing.  We have been working hard to improve our writing skills including paying more attention to the top line, mid line and baseline.  This week we will be completing our 1st Quarter (yep- we're behind on that, too!) Writing Sample.  This is a fantastic way for us to monitor our writing progress each grading period.
Our color word this week is gray (to go along with G!) and we will be introducing the sight word "said".
For math we will work on Goldfish Math- reviewing the numbers 0-10 with the use of delicious (and G appropriate!) goldfish crackers.
As there is no school this Friday homework will be due on Thursday.
We will also be meeting with our 5th grade Math Mates this week on Tuesday to complete pumpkin math.  We will be measuring and weighing our mini-pumpkins.  We will also count the number of stripes and graph all of our pumpkin data.
Have a great week!
